“The world is mourning a genius, and we grieve for our cousin, friend, and partner in a great musical adventure,” they wrote. Wilson formed the iconic group in 1961 with his brothers Dennis and Carl Wilson, cousin Mike Love, and friend Al Jardine.
Their statement continued, emphasizing Wilson’s pivotal role: “Brian Wilson wasn’t just the heart of The Beach Boys—he was the soul of our sound. The melodies he dreamed up and the emotions he poured into every note changed the course of music forever.
