Ellen Pompeo recently shared the not-so-glamorous story behind her foot injury during a Storytellers event at the Tribeca Festival in New York City on June 14th. The *Grey’s Anatomy* star, sporting a black boot, revealed the incident happened during a conversation with Katie Couric.
When asked about the injury, Pompeo humorously admitted it wasn’t the result of any exciting stunt work. Instead, the *Good American Family* actress confessed, “I just, you know, was half asleep and jumped out of bed too quick and landed on my foot the wrong way. Somewhat clumsy of me.” The 55-year-old also joked that this type of injury is becoming a bit of a recurring “party trick” for her, having injured herself in similar ways several times before. “This is my second time doing it that way, being asleep and jumping out too fast,” the *Daredevil* actress elaborated.
Beyond her clumsy escapades, Pompeo also offered some insight into her long-standing and successful relationship with *Grey’s Anatomy* creator Shonda Rhimes. She explained, “I think the most important thing to note about Shonda and I’s relationship is we very easily could have been pitted against one another.” She noted that she’d resisted suggestions from her team to adopt an adversarial attitude towards Rhimes, emphasizing, “I believe that you get more with honey than you do with vinegar.” She concluded by stating the importance of trusting people when they show you who they are.
