Brittany Cartwright recently revealed that her ex-husband, Jax Taylor, wasn’t exactly encouraging when she decided to take on the grueling Fox competition, *Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test*.
During the season 4 premiere, the 36-year-old explained her motivations for joining the show, citing a desire to prove herself after a difficult year that included leaving what she described as a “very toxic relationship.”
According to Cartwright, Taylor’s reaction wasn’t supportive. “I had my ex writing me being like, ‘You’re not gonna make it far’ right before I even came here, so people like that I want to prove wrong,” she shared. She was determined to push her limits and show what she’s capable of.
However, the tough challenges of the show, which simulate military training, proved difficult for Cartwright. She confessed to a fear of heights during the helicopter repelling challenge and struggled with the physically demanding obstacle course. Ultimately, after her team lost a challenge, she made the difficult decision to withdraw, saying, “I can’t. I’m gonna throw up. I’m really sorry. I feel like s—.”
While her time on *Special Forces* was short-lived, it meant a swift reunion with her 4-year-old son, Cruz, whom she shares with Taylor. “I was so ready to get back to my son,” she said. “I had never been away from him that long. That was the longest I’ve ever been separated from him. So that was a big deal to get back to him.”
