    With a steady rise in coronavirus cases, authorities are considering imposing a complete lockdown in Lahore for a week or two.

    In this regard, a proposal will be sent to the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) meeting today (Monday). The final decision will be taken after approval from the NCOC and Prime Minister Imran Khan.

    More than 4,000 new cases have been reported in Pakistan

    The third wave of coronavirus has hit the country hard as it reported 4,584 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours with a positive ratio of 10.29%.

    In the last 24 hours, 58 people have lost their lives to the coronavirus, bringing the total number of deaths nationwide to 15,501, according to NCOC figures.
    In the last 24 hours, about 3,135 patients across the country have recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to date to 6,34,835.

    Demand for drastic measures

    The Punjab Health Department said that the markets have already been closed since 6 pm to check the spread of Coronavirus.

    A meeting of the sub-committee of the Punjab Cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmeen Rashid.

    The committee expressed concern over the deteriorating situation of the third wave of epidemics across the province.

    During the meeting, the committee recommended stricter measures in areas with more than 15 positive issues in the cities.
