In a significant development, Islamabad Police have apprehended the primary suspect in the shocking murder of Imaan, a 22-year-old student at the International Islamic University.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Islamabad, Muhammad Jawad Tariq, announced the arrest at a press conference held at Rescue 15, accompanied by senior police officials. He described it as a major breakthrough in what was initially a challenging, seemingly unsolvable case.
The suspect, identified as Feroz, a resident of Jhang, had reportedly fled after the crime and gone into hiding. Police investigations revealed that Feroz allegedly forced his way into the Kainat Girls Hostel with criminal intentions and opened fire, resulting in Imaan’s tragic death.
Following the incident, specialized police teams were formed to track down the suspect. These teams employed a combination of advanced surveillance technology and human intelligence, meticulously analyzing CCTV footage from surrounding buildings and feeds from Islamabad’s Safe City cameras. They also utilized composite sketches to aid in identifying and locating the accused. This coordinated effort ultimately led to Feroz’s arrest. Police records indicate that he has a history of serious criminal activity, including prior charges of rape and numerous motorcycle thefts.
DIG Tariq confirmed that a case has been registered and a thorough investigation is ongoing. He assured the public that the police will ensure justice is served and that the suspect will be prosecuted with the strength of the collected evidence. “This arrest demonstrates the Islamabad Police’s dedication and ability to protect citizens and bring those responsible for such terrible crimes to justice,” stated DIG Tariq. Imaan’s death has caused widespread grief and anger in the capital, with many calling for the accused to receive swift and severe punishment.
