In Islamabad on June 20, 2025, Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Syed Imran Ahmad Shah, met with Rubina Khalid, Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), to discuss various BISP initiatives.
The conversation centered around cash handout programs like the Benazir Nashonuma Programme, Benazir Taleemi Wazaif, and the Benazir Kafalat Programme. The primary goal was to explore ways to enhance the efficiency and scope of these crucial social safety nets.
A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to the Benazir Hunarmand Programme, which focuses on equipping young people with vocational and technical skills to promote self-sufficiency. Minister Shah expressed strong support for the program, calling it the “future of our youth” and emphasizing that skill development is a practical approach to long-term poverty reduction.
The Minister also commended Rubina Khalid, the BISP Chairperson, and Secretary Amir Ali for their dedication and service to the most vulnerable populations in Pakistan. He highlighted that strong leadership within BISP is crucial for the program’s continued success and public trust.
