Karachi residents experienced light rainfall for a second consecutive day on Saturday, offering respite from recent high temperatures. The drizzle was reported in areas like Lyari, Mauripur, and Clifton. The weather forecast for Saturday predicted a maximum temperature of 36 degrees Celsius, with 68% humidity and westerly winds blowing at 19 kilometers per hour.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) anticipates more intermittent drizzle and strong winds throughout the day. This follows brief showers on Friday in Gulshan-e-Maymar, Sohrab Goth, and other areas, which provided a welcome break from temperatures exceeding 40°C.

According to the Met Office’s pre-monsoon advisory, moisture-laden currents from the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea are entering the country, signaling the approach of the monsoon season. Strong winds and thunderstorms are expected in Sukkur, Larkana, and other regions from June 22nd to 24th.

The PMD also forecasts pre-monsoon rains across other parts of the country until June 23rd, which should ease the ongoing heatwave. These rains may be accompanied by dust storms, wind, and thundershowers, with isolated areas potentially experiencing heavy rainfall and hailstorms.

The forecast also warns of potential damage from windstorms and lightning to vulnerable structures like electric poles, trees, and vehicles, particularly in upper and central regions including Islamabad. Urban flooding is a risk in low-lying areas of Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, and Islamabad during heavy downpours. Farmers are advised to adjust their activities based on the weather predictions.
