PTI Senator Shibli Faraz has called on the PML-N-led government to demonstrate genuine commitment to resolving the country’s political tensions by engaging in meaningful dialogue. This follows the government’s recent expression of willingness to discuss all political matters with the opposition, as stated by Rana Sanaullah, the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs.
Sanaullah had highlighted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has repeatedly invited the opposition to talks, even suggesting meeting in the speaker’s chamber. He emphasized that dialogue is essential for democratic progress.
In response, Senator Faraz stated that the government needs to move beyond mere statements and demonstrate real sincerity in their approach. He cautioned against using dialogue as a superficial exercise to create a false impression of normalcy.
Faraz emphasized the importance of direct engagement with the PTI chairman and secretary general, arguing that limiting the process to political rhetoric would be unproductive. He stressed that any negotiations should be genuine and transparent, with clear evidence of the government’s seriousness. He urged the Prime Minister to take concrete steps to advance the dialogue process.
The article also noted that PM Shehbaz Sharif has repeatedly extended invitations to the PTI for dialogue to de-escalate political tensions and foster consensus. In a recent show of goodwill, the PM greeted PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan in the National Assembly.
In a related development, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has stated that the recent Supreme Court verdict on reserved seats poses no threat to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government led by CM Ali Amin Gandapur. He expressed confidence in the loyalty of PTI lawmakers and challenged the opposition to bring a no-confidence motion against the Chief Minister, predicting its failure. While expressing disappointment over the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the allocation of reserved seats, he maintained his belief in the strength of his party in KP.
