Following a period of intense heat, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that Karachi will experience rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds in various areas today, Monday.
The Met Office expects partly cloudy and humid conditions to continue over the next 24 hours. While rain is expected, the maximum temperature could still reach between 36 and 38 degrees Celsius.
Currently, humidity is at 73%, and warm winds are blowing from the northwest at a speed of three kilometers per hour. The minimum temperature recorded in the city over the last 24 hours was 30°C.
On June 13th, the PMD had indicated that a pre-monsoon weather system was likely to impact the eastern regions of Sindh starting Saturday evening.
*The News* reported that Met officials had previously stated that a western wave was affecting the upper and central parts of the country and was expected to continue through Sunday and Monday. They had forecast generally hot and dry weather for most of the country, with very hot conditions in the plains.
However, some areas were expected to see partly cloudy weather with dust storms and rain or thundershowers, including isolated spots in North-East and South Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper and South-East Sindh, North-East Balochistan, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan.
Rainfall has already been recorded in several cities, including Gujrat, Mangla, Sialkot, Islamabad, Murree, Mir Khani, Kalam, Dir, Drosh, Rawalakot, and Gupis. The highest maximum temperature recorded on Saturday was in Turbat and Pasni, where the temperature reached 49°C.
