In the early hours of Saturday, the residence of Mubarak Zeb, the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Tribal Affairs and a Member of the National Assembly (MNA), was struck by a rocket in Bajaur district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Police confirmed the attack on Zeb’s house, stating that it was launched by unidentified assailants. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Mubarak Zeb himself addressed the incident on X, stating, “Once again, my house was attacked by miscreants during the night with a rocket. Thank God, there are no casualties.”
Notably, this is the second attack on the MNA’s home in the last two months. Just last month, an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded near his residence, causing some damage.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the rocket attack. A spokesperson relayed that the Prime Minister is deeply concerned about the incident and expressed gratitude that no lives were lost. He emphasized that such acts of violence are unacceptable attempts to destabilize the region’s peace.
The Prime Minister has directed authorities to launch an immediate and comprehensive investigation into the attack, ordering the swift apprehension and prosecution of those responsible. He reiterated the government’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and ensuring the safety of public officials and citizens throughout the country.
