After 29 years, Pakistan hosted the International Cricket Council (ICC) event.
The International Cricket Council has announced the host countries for the next eight events, according to which Pakistan will host the Champions Trophy in 2025.
According to Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Rameez Raja, the matches of the event will be held in three cities of Pakistan.
Sources said that the Champions Trophy matches will be held in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi. However, the final decision on holding the matches in Rawalpindi is likely to be taken considering the weather conditions.
The last time Pakistan hosted an ICC event was in 1996, when some 50-over World Cup matches were played in Pakistan.
The 2008 Champions Trophy was supposed to be held in Pakistan but due to circumstances it was shifted to South Africa.
According to the ICC announcement, India will host three ICC events between 2024 and 2031.
The 2024 T20 World Cup will take place in the United States and the West Indies. India and Sri Lanka will host the 2026 T20 World Cup. In 2027, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia will host the ODI World Cup.
The 2028 T20 World Cup will be held in Australia and New Zealand while India will also host the 2029 Champions Trophy.
England, Ireland and Scotland will co-host the 2030 T20 World Cup, while India and Bangladesh will co-host the 2031 ODI World Cup.

PCB chairman Rameez Raja has expressed happiness over the news and said that the event will be held in three cities of Pakistan, eight teams will be in action, a total of 15 matches will be played.
“Through the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, we will make the world believe that we are a great host,” he said.
The Chairman PCB further said that he is very happy to host the event, ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will make the world believe that we are great hosts, this event is less than an honor for cricket fans living in Pakistan. No, now we have to plan a successful event according to ICC expectations and standards.
