Tensions between Israel and Iran are reaching a critical point, raising the specter of a wider conflict. In response, world leaders are scrambling to de-escalate the situation, emphasizing the urgent need for restraint and diplomatic solutions.

Pakistan has strongly condemned Israel’s attacks on Iran, labeling them a serious danger to regional and global peace and security. At an emergency UN Security Council meeting, Pakistan’s UN Ambassador reiterated support for Iran, urging immediate international action to resolve the crisis through dialogue.

Russia and China have joined the chorus of nations offering to mediate, alongside the UN, EU, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar. Russian President Putin has criticized Israel’s actions as violations of the UN Charter and international law, while the Kremlin reported that he has separately urged both Netanyahu and Pezeshkian to exercise restraint.

China also voiced concern, warning that continued hostilities could destabilize the Middle East. Referencing its successful mediation between Iran and Saudi Arabia, Beijing signaled its willingness to help find a peaceful resolution.

UN Secretary-General Guterres issued a dire warning, stating that “enough is enough” and calling for a return to peace and diplomacy. European Commission President von der Leyen echoed these concerns, describing the situation as “deeply alarming” and emphasizing the importance of regional stability.

Saudi Arabia and Qatar have also weighed in, with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman emphasizing the need for calm and diplomatic efforts during calls with US President Trump. Similarly, Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani stressed the urgency of preventing further escalation.

With Israel threatening to eliminate Iran’s nuclear program, the international community is united in its plea for peace, warning that the consequences of failure could be devastating.
