Following recent reports of Israeli strikes within Iran, the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), has provided updates on the status of Iran’s nuclear facilities. According to the IAEA’s assessment released Saturday, there was no visible damage at the Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant or the under-construction Khondab heavy water reactor. The agency also stated that no additional damage was detected at Natanz, which was among the sites targeted on Friday.
Earlier, the IAEA had reported that Iran’s Nuclear Regulatory Authority indicated no changes in radiation levels outside the Isfahan nuclear site, another location hit during the Israeli air offensive. However, the IAEA also noted that four key buildings at the Isfahan site sustained damage, including a uranium conversion facility and a fuel plate fabrication plant. The agency stated on X (formerly Twitter) that, similar to Natanz, they do not anticipate any increase in off-site radiation as a result of the damage.
