Trump Orders Expedited Deportations: Targeting Sanctuary Cities?

Following major protests in Los Angeles, President Trump is escalating his anti-immigration policies, directing federal authorities to intensify deportation efforts in cities with Democratic leadership. This move doubles down on his stance against undocumented immigrants.

Trump announced on Truth Social that his administration must expand efforts to detain and deport “illegal Aliens” in major cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, claiming these cities are at the heart of Democratic power. He also repeated debunked conspiracy theories alleging widespread voter fraud by undocumented immigrants.

Deporting undocumented immigrants has been a key priority for Trump’s second term, building on his previous campaign against what he called an “invasion” by criminals.

Recent ICE raids in Los Angeles have triggered days of predominantly peaceful protests, marred by occasional outbursts of violence. Trump has seized upon these incidents to deploy 4,000 National Guard troops and 700 Marines to the city, a decision opposed by local and state officials.

California has filed a lawsuit challenging Trump’s authority to control the National Guard troops, a case currently under federal court review.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass extended a curfew initially implemented to curb vandalism and looting during the protests, citing the fear and anger gripping the city’s heavily Latino population. She described the immigration raids as “indiscriminate” and noted that residents are afraid to leave their homes, saying, “This is the United States. You are not supposed to have to show your papers if you go out in public.”

Despite the unrest, Los Angeles remained mostly calm on Sunday, with a smaller group of demonstrators gathering outside City Hall before the curfew began.

In a lengthy Truth Social post, Trump defended the actions of ICE agents, claiming they face violence, harassment, and threats from “Radical Democrat Politicians.” He insisted that “nothing will stop us” from carrying out “the single largest Mass Deportation Program in History.”

Trump also criticized Democrats on a variety of issues, including immigration, transgender rights, and sports. He further stated that he wants ICE and other law enforcement agencies to focus on crime-ridden inner cities, and has directed his administration to allocate every possible resource to reverse what he described as a “tide of Mass Destruction Migration” that has transformed “once Idyllic Towns into scenes of Third World Dystopia.”

Concluding his post, Trump expressed unwavering support for law enforcement agencies, urging them to “GET THE JOB DONE!” and assuring them that “REAL Americans are cheering you on every day.”
