Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has tested positive for the coronavirus and is currently isolated from home.
The news was tweeted by an Indian politician on Tuesday, who recently advised those who came in contact with him to take all precautionary measures.
50 years old Rahul Gandhi wrote,
“After experiencing mild symptoms, I have tested positive for covid. “Anyone who has been in contact with me lately, please follow all security protocols and stay safe.”

Sources close to the Indian politician said he had not met his mother and Congress president Sonia Gandhi for the past 12 days. He has not even met his sister, Priyanka Gandhi.
Following his tweet, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also prayed for the recovery of his political rival. He tweeted, “I pray for the recovery and recovery of Shri Rahul Gandhi, Member of Lok Sabha.”

The news of Gandhi’s positive test for the virus came a day after former Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh tested positive for the coronavirus.
Singh was shifted to the Trauma Center of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) for monitoring and treatment of the infection.
Coronavirus infections have risen to 15 million in India.
A day earlier, India had reported that the total number of infections in its coronavirus had risen to nearly 15 million.
In India, the number of coronavirus infections rose to a record 273,810 in a single day on Monday.
Also on Monday, there were 1,619 new deaths in the country, bringing the total to 178,769.
