The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has summoned Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar’s Principal Secretary Tahir Khurshid to investigate assets worth billions of rupees.
Tahir Khurshid is the officer who gave NAB approval in the Ashiana housing case against Shahbaz Sharif and senior bureaucrat Fawad Hassan Fawad. NAB has asked Tahir to bring complete details of movable/immovable / purchase/sale / disposed property and immovable property by himself and his family members along with details of inherited property.
He was further asked to provide details of investments and shares in various companies owned by him and his family members. The NAB has directed Khurshid to bring the details of his tax records submitted to the FBR, the performance of the asset declaration submitted to the department and the bank account details of himself and his family members.
The complaint against Tahir alleges that as Secretary Transport, he earned billions through illegal means, awarded contracts to people of his choice and distributed the profits and assets far exceeded his well-known income.
Bureau sources said that a formal investigation has been launched against the bureaucrat and letters have been sent to the FBR and other departments to provide details of assets.
Tahir Khurshid has served as Secretary C&W and Commissioner DG Khan in the Bazdar government and is now serving as Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister.
